Japan Skins

Kon'nichiwa, pairotto! (Hello, pilots!)
As you know, Japan was a nation under fascist rule during the 1930s.
After much struggle and civil war, the country was united and began its expansion to the East, invading China, Korea and islands in the Pacific.
By the end of the decade, Japan was a major power and a threat in the region, both to the Soviet and to the United States.
During this time, Japanese relations with the West came to a stalemate: seeing the major threat that the Empire posed to the Pacific islands and in an effort to discourage Japanese militarism, Western powersstopped selling oil, iron ore, and steel to Japan, denying it the raw materials needed to  the Empire.
In Japan, the government and nationalists viewed this as acts of aggression, preparing the country to war with the Allies in May 1941.
In response to these actions, on the 7th of December 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Empire of Japan, beginning the war in the Pacific.
During this time, Japan had modernized and created new and powerful warplanes that could match their opponents. They also captured several enemy aircraft and used them for evaluation purposes.
